Replaced Fresh Air Duct GasketI2005/01/30    Related Vortex forum
Recently, I found rain water leakage at the passenger sides floor when washing a car. The cause seems to be the fresh air duct cover gasket.

Open the Hood and remove the rubber seal laying onthe top edge of the firewall.

Pull out the plastic rain tray.

The fresh air duct locate on the passenger side.
Remove the fresh air duct cover(leaf screen) by sliding out the retaining clip.
Then lifting up and sliding out the cover.
The cover has a gasket on the back side.
I bought rubber sponge from the DIY shop. 5 x 200 x 200mm

Only 1.5 dollars
This rubber sponge has a double face tape on the back side.
Peel off the old gasket from the cover by your finger.

That gaskets parts# is #191 819 166 If I buy that gasket from the dealership in Japan, I must pay $10(probably more) for that gasket. :-(
Put the old gasket on the rubber sponge.

Cut it with the scissors along the outline.
Cut it with the razor brade along the inside line.

like this!

Peel off the back sheet from the rubber sponge.

Just paste it to the cover.

It is rather thin than the original gasket.

NO problem..... maybe!
After install, Just fit.

The leak will not happening again.

Never?

OMG! I had found the terrible one which I must not see!

Continue?

I decide not to have seen it. :D
