Replaced Fresh Air Duct GasketI2005/01/30 Related Vortex forumRecently, I found rain water leakage at the passenger sides floor when washing a car. The cause seems to be the fresh air duct cover gasket. |

Open the Hood and remove the rubber seal laying onthe top edge of the firewall. Pull out the plastic rain tray. The fresh air duct locate on the passenger side. |

Remove the fresh air duct cover(leaf screen) by sliding out the retaining clip. |

Then lifting up and sliding out the cover. |

The cover has a gasket on the back side. |

I bought rubber sponge from the DIY shop. 5 x 200 x 200mm Only 1.5 dollars |

This rubber sponge has a double face tape on the back side. |

Peel off the old gasket from the cover by your finger. That gaskets parts# is #191 819 166 If I buy that gasket from the dealership in Japan, I must pay $10(probably more) for that gasket. :-( |

Put the old gasket on the rubber sponge. Cut it with the scissors along the outline. |

Cut it with the razor brade along the inside line. |

Peel off the back sheet from the rubber sponge. |

Just paste it to the cover. |

It is rather thin than the original gasket. NO problem..... maybe! |

After install, Just fit. The leak will not happening again. Never? |
