The ECU sits on almost the middle of firewall. The ECU is installed in
the very small place. Seemingly, it seems that I can't take out the ECU. I had to secure the rescue route of ECU. :D |

Rescue route Removing the fresh air duct cover. Check the space between the fresh air duct cover and the passenger side fender. |

Slide out the lock tab of the fresh air dut cover. The easy way is the tab slide out with pushing down the fresh air duct cover. |

After remove the cover. Secure the route that I rescue ECU. It seems that I gave the damage to that gasket when I replaced the chip before. See to the bottom right side of the gasket. Note: Damaging this gasket will allow rainwater to come into the passenger compartment via the ventilation system. Check Replace the cover gasket page. |

It is my old tuning EPROM which I purchased 10 years ago for 86,000 yen.(about
$810?) This ROM have an additional PCB. It seems that the scramble PCB
for protect the program stolen. Note: Don't pull it out by your finger. The pins of the EPROM is very delicate. It is damaged easily. Why know that? Because, I made the mistake. :-p |

Removed the eprom. I recommend use the eprom puller(DIP IC EXTRACTOR: Next
picture). Where is my new ROM? The engine hesitated when I installed the EPROM which I received from them. Why? Did I break the EPROM? They said that EPROM was for Coilpack VR6 when I ask this problem and sent the picture of this EPROM to them. I send back this EPROM to them, and I waited for that right EPROM reached. As you can imagine, I soldered the old EPROM's pins which broke. :( |

2005/02/03 DIP IC Extractor I bought the DIP IC extractor from the GRID, because I don't want to break the pins of EPROM again. |

2005/02/05 Finally, I got the right EPROM. Did they put their sticker in the box for the apology to me? :D |
![]() |
This EPROM have OBDII 259 VR6 CD SIII label. Really right chip? |
![]() |
I bought the lever type 28Pin DIP socket with the Extractor. It makes the
removal of the EPROM easy. heh? Didn't I need to buy the Extractor? |
![]() |
Put in the EPROM to the lever DIP socket. And put in the lever socket with EPROM to the DIP socket of the ECU PCB The EPROM has the dot and half circle notch. Check that the direction is the same as the original EPROM |

I drove my corrado around on the neighborhood of the house after the idling. heh? rev limit? The tach needle showed more than 7500rpm. upside down! My valve spring is the stock one! OMG! |
