Radiator Slave Fan Bearings!!@2006/01/21
2 years passed after the noise occurred from the radiator slave fan bearing. But fan and fan bearing housing assy is very expensive from the VW dealer.
I replaced only a bearing to fix it inexpensively.

Remove the slave fan from the ‚’adiator fan shroud. only loosen three 10mm nuts.

Parts# 357 119 113 A

It is very difficult to remove a fan assembly from the Corrado, because C's radiator support blocked a fan assembly escape route.

I removed front engine mount and jack up the engine for that work.
Remove the C-ring from the fan shaft.

But,,,,,

The fan didn't get away from the shaft easily, Because the shaft was very rusty.

Remove the rust of the shaft before pulling out a fan. Its most easy way!
Slave fan bearing housing.
Remove circlip by circlip pliers or use needle nose pliers.

After remove circlip, the shaft w/ bearing can be easily pulled out.

Bearing # SKF - ITALY 608-2Z/+54

I bought the new bearings from NTN dealer.

Parts # 608ZZ each 1.5 dollars.
Remove the bearings from fan shaft by the bearing puller.
The position of the bearing is locked by the E ring.
Remove E ring and bearing.
I insert a new bearing to the shaft using the vise and an adaptor(water hose fitting).

Next one.

Done.
I challenged the bearing replace of the fan motor.
The motor bearing housing covered with the cover which was crimped with the aluminum rivet.

Remove the aluminum rivet from the front cover of the fan motor by using the 3mm drill bit.
Remove the cover with the flat head screw driver.
Completely, grease was passing away.
Bearing # is NSK 6001ZZ

Open the crimped rear cover.

That carbon brush was quite worn.

The blind bearing puller is necessary to pull out that rear blind bearing.
Where can I buy w44 carbon brush?

And I must buy the 3mm rivets.

The Bosch Japan doesn't sell the repair kit for the fan motor, because this fan motor is non- resolution type.
