On-Board Diagnostic system, reading/erasing without VAG 1551 Scan Tool

Requirement
Adaptor cable 357 971 514E (from glove box) or use Jumper wire.
Activating
Switch ON ignition.
Remove shift lever cover.
Bridge the black and the white Data Link connectors using jumper wire for approx. 5 seconds.
MIL light(Brake/ABS warning light) must begin blinking.
Disconnect jumper wire.
Repeat this procedure until blink code 4444 or 0000 "End of Output" appears.
Check DTC code troubleshooting table.

Erasing
Switch OFF ignition.
Bridge Data Link connector.
Switch ON ignition and after approx. 5 seconds remove adaptor wire from Data Link Connectors.
After blink code 4444 appears, switch OFF ignition.
